Frequently Asked Questions
Our private music lessons are conducted after school hours for your convenience. Castlerock Music Academy is open from 3:00pm - 7:00pm, Monday to Friday and 9:00am-3:00pm on Saturdays. Earlier lessons are available upon request.
Weekly music lessons are booked in thirty minute blocks however, some students prefer to learn multiple instruments or simply want a longer lesson. Castlerock Music Academy is happy to accommodate your needs and availability.
Our standard lesson price is $35 +GST for a thirty minute, one to one private music lesson with one of our highly skilled music teachers. All new students get a FREE trial music lesson to meet the teacher and check out our facilities. We also have advanced teachers available for advanced students for just $45 per lesson. You get what you pay for. After all, you wouldn’t send your child to a stationery shop for a school education so why would you send your child to a retail music shop for music lessons.
No catch! Every new student is entitled to a free trial music lesson. We’re so confident in our high level of service and fantastic teachers, one lesson is all you’ll need to be sure Castlerock Music Academy is the right place for you.
Some academies make you pay $140 just to get one free lesson or $420 for a term, only to find out after one or two lessons that you don’t like the teacher and can’t get your money back. Here at Castlerock, you get an introductory free trial lesson and can cancel at any time. We offer Pay As You Go lessons with no lock-in contracts and no cancellation fees! A variety of payment options are available.
As with all professional organisations there are set up procedures that need to take place. With over 250 students, our full time admin staff and teachers use a specifically designed program for music teaching facilities to schedule lessons, track attendance and keep a record of student progress. This program is web based and allows you to log-in from any mobile device to check on the next lesson time/day and see the notes a teacher has made. Teachers notes may include practice reminders, song suggestions or private notes to parents for progress reports. The admin fee covers the cost of set up and maintenance for our comprehensive student database and lesson scheduling program.
At Castlerock Music Academy, we try to be as flexible as possible with your lesson booking. If you know a lesson will be missed, let us know with as much notice as possible and we’ll re-schedule the lesson, depending on availability. If you know you’re going to be away for an extended period of time, send us an email and we’ll stop payments. For more information, see our Terms and Conditions.
Yes. As the only AMEB examination centre South of the river, we enrol all interested students in both practical and Music Theory Exams. We currently train students for AMEB Rockschool, AMEB For Leisure, AMEB Music Theatre, AMEB Classical, or AMEB Theory Exams. We have maintained a 100% pass rate as students are only enrolled for exams when they are ready to pass.
That’s Easy! We’re the only facility South of the River approved by the Department of Education. We have 4 qualified lecturers with Cert IV Training & Assessing, supervised by Tzudy Weir (Head of Education), with grade 8 certificates in multiple instruments to oversee and train our teaching staff. It’s one thing to have a Bachelor or Diploma for playing an instrument, it’s another thing to be able to teach it. Tzudy Weir oversees and trains all of our teachers to a Department of Education approved curriculum.
